Sultry, seductive eyes.

Victoria Secret eyeliner is supposed to give you big, sexy eyes. Let's put it to the test!

About Victoria Secret Eyeliner

Victoria Secret eyeliner comes to us from the company of the same name, Victoria's Secret. The thought behind this makeup product is that a company that makes alluring, sexy lingerie should be able to impart that same level of sexiness to one's eyes, but does it? That's the premise we're here to test!

The Product

Today, we'll be testing Victoria Secret eyeliner in several different colors, including Plum Crazy, Silver Lining and Gold Leaf, and the application will be the same for all three. I will line my eyes, both top and bottom, and wee how the pencil stand sup in terms of faking, color, wear-ability and length of wear.

The Application

As I line my eyes, I take note of a few different factors. One is that there is a slight tugging on my eyes. I am immediately dismayed since this caused the color to skip slightly, meaning that I have to then retrace my steps.

This is not necessarily a bad thing, but it doesn't mean that the final line appears a bit "heavy-handed". What is an annoyance is the fact that the liner will not cove4r any part of the eye that is wet. In other words, the top lid lines fairly easily, but if you want to line the section near the tear ducts, or the inner rim of the eye, you'll need to dry that area to achieve an even look.

Advantages

  • Plenty of Hue: There are quite a few advantages to Victoria Secret eyeliner. The one that stand out the most is the fact that the color is very richly pigmented. I love this! Often times, you'll see an eyeliner in an eye-popping shade, like electric blue, only to apply it and find that it seems to be a pastel shade of blue. This is not the case with this eyeliner. The Plum Crazy color is beautifully rich and dark; a really eye-grabber.
  • Long Lasting: This eyeliner is truly long lasting. I applied it early in the morning and wore it for about seven hours, and it did not come off at all. The only part that did wear off slightly was where I applied it to the inner rim of my eye, but that was easily remedied by a quick touch up.

Disadvantages

The main disadvantage with this eyeliner is flaking. As you apply the liner, little particles of do shoot off and fall onto the cheeks. Remedy this with a little bit of translucent powder. The only problem is that the flakes don't stop falling once you're done applying. Instead, they continue to fall throughout the day. This is very annoying, but the color is so right and gorgeous, you may just put up with it. Just remember to check your eyes in a compact mirror every couple of hours.

A word on the Color

The Plum Crazy color can literally go anywhere; it's that gorgeous. Gold Lean and Silver Lining may be another matter. Both colors look slight futuristic and unusual when lined around the entire eye (or even just the top portion of the eyelid), but a fantastic way to wear them is to only place these colors on the inner corners of the eye (the part that's closest to the nose).

This creates an incredibly "fierce" look that is very appealing. Don't forget to use a second, complimentary shade with these liners. For example, if using Gold Leaf, pair with a brown eyeliner. If you're using Silver Lining, pair with a blue or a purple liner. This way, your makeup won't just say "I was playing with my Crayolas"!

The Verdict

Victoria's Secret eyeliner gets and absolute yes in terms of purchasing. While it is true that the eyeliner flakes, the color is simply too gorgeous to pass up.
